Lizard canaries at the National Exhibition 2026

Yet again, the National Exhibition raised the curtain on the Lizard canary show season.  The 2026 edition was the first to be organised under the new APHA regulations, but things went smoothly and around 80 birds awaited me for judging.  They had a high standard to maintain after last year’s winner, a lovely non cap […]... Lizard Canaries at the Antwerp Posture Canary Club show 2025

This show report has been prepared by my guest contributor and Lizard canary judge, Andy Williamson: Friday, October 31st 2025, saw me re-living a dream I thought 4/5 years ago I’d never do again.  As many know I had a serious health issue and had to give up my birds.  Friends both in the UK […]... Lizards a-go-go: the Amigos show 2025

I’ve been to bird shows in all sorts of venues: great exhibition centres, sports halls, village halls, pubs and marquees, but the Club Amigos del Canario Lizard show was the first time I’ve ever seen canaries exhibited at a dance hall.   The 2025 edition was held at an hotel complex in La Carlota near […]... Lizard canaries at the 2025 National Exhibition

This was my first visit to the National since 2022; a welcome opportunity to assess the 2025 crop of Lizard canaries.  I was struck by the evenness of the overall standard, novices included, and there were several causes for optimism.  103 Lizards had been entered, an excellent number for such an early show. More importantly,  […]... Read More

The LCA Classic 2024

This year’s LCA Classic brought a few changes. I was judging rather than showing; and there was a new timetable aimed at enabling exhibitors to view the birds much earlier than in recent years. I can’t speak for my judging, but the latter was a big success. Some things didn’t change though: the friendly atmosphere, […]... Read More

The National Exhibition 2024

I missed the National Exhibition again this year but fortunately Andy Beesley, the Secretary of the Lizard canary section, recorded the event and sent me judge Chris Jordan’s report: “The  show  season  started  again  at  Stafford  with  the  English  National  Exhibition. There were 71 birds  entered,  of which  65  were on  the show bench in […]... Read More
